Mission

• Raising campus consciousness of the importance of civic engagement for an educated, democratic citizenry;
• Developing and organizing service learning and civic engagement opportunities for students and faculty;
• Consulting with academic units on implementing civic engagement into curricula;
• Assessing civic engagement activities across campus.

Vision

The vision for the Center for Civic Engagement is clear: Connect the College and the surrounding communitiy. We will achieve this vision with the following goals:

• Connecting MCTC students, staff, administrators, and faculty with external communities
• Accentuating formal standards of instruction with hands-on opportunities for students to apply knowledge acquired in academic courses.
• Planning mutually beneficial, ongoing engagement and service projects in collaboration with community-based partner organizations.
• Offering financial and human resources to support effective programs of engagement and service.
